2015 Ford Mustang to arrive in coupe and convertible

THE Ford Mustang will arrive next year in fastback and convertible body shapes.

It will come with a choice of two engines, a 233kW 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder powerplant or a 5.0-litre 303kW V8.

No pricing information has been revealed. 

Six-speed manual transmissions will be standard, while a six-speed automatic will be an option.

Standard equipment will include leather trimmed seats, 19-inch alloys, stainless steel dual exhaust, rear diffuser, HID headlights, LED taillights, daytime running lamps, pony projection lights, automatic wipers and lights, dual zone climate control air con, sat nav, electric front and rear windows with one-touch lowering/close front windows (driver and passenger), keyless entry with push-button start, aluminium-faced foot pedals and illuminated scuff plates.

Entertainment will be looked after via the Sync2 system seen on the just-launched Falcon and Territory, which has an 20.3cm colour touch-screen, Bluetooth phone  and audio integration with USB and auxiliary ports along with a nine-speaker sound system with amplifier. 

The EcoBoost engine develops 233kW of power at 5600rpm- 5700rpm and 432Nm of torque at 3000rpm while the range-topping 5.0-litre V8 runs on premium unleaded and develops 303kW at 6500rpm and 525Nm of torque at 4250rpm.

"We've has an unprecedented 15,000 customers asking for more details about the car so we've decided to share with everyone the key features of the coupe and convertible," according to Bob Graziano, Ford Australia President and CEO.

"We also have the refreshed Focus line-up, Mondeo, Ranger and Everest SUV arriving in 2015 but of all our vehicles arriving next year, the Mustang has struck a particular chord with customers and our Ford enthusiasts."
