18-year-old killed after ute roll
UPDATE 2:47pm: THE Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the single vehicle traffic crash at Cape Palmerston National Park which killed an 18-year-old Bucasia man yesterday.
Preliminary information suggests the man was travelling in the tray of a utility along Cape Palmerston Beach around 6.40am when the vehicle rolled, throwing him from tray.
He died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, another 18-year-old Bucasia man, was also thrown from the vehicle and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition.
EARILER: AN 18-year-old man has died this morning at Cape Palmerston, south of Sarina.
A Mackay Police spokesman said investigations were continuing into the incident but it was believed the man was riding on the back of a utility which had a roll.
Another man was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the spokesman said.
