$12,000 raised for Appeal
CLUBS were swinging for a good cause at the Gatton Jubilee Golf Club on Saturday when more than $12,000 was raised in a single day for the Lockyer Valley Regional Council Flood Appeal fund.
Club manager Lester Hauser said the club also had the most players they have ever seen on the green with more than 160 teeing off for a good cause.
The club received a large sum of money from Woollahra Golf Club in Sydney which contributed to the outstanding amount.
President of Woollahra Golf Club, Patrick Lane, said they had heard about the floods that devastated the Lockyer Valley and wanted to help.
“The club decided to hold a fundraising night in aid of the flood victims and as Grantham was ‘ground zero' for the disaster, we thought it would be appropriate our donation go towards assisting in the rebuilding of this township,” Mr Lane said.
Mr Hauser said between green fees, auctions and a Jack Daniels merchandise raffle, it all helped accumulate the donation money.
