Youngster celebrating 12th birthday on December 12, 2012

URRAWEEN'S Elyse Wallace is turning 12 today - on the 12th day of the 12th month in 2012.

Her mum Anne said the family had not realised the special date of Elyse's 12th birthday until about six months ago.

Since then they have been planning ways to make the celebration extra special.

The celebrations started yesterday when eight friends joined her for a special birthday party and sleepover.

That included a scavenger hunt that would see the 12-year-old girls visit Santa at Stocklands shopping centre in Hervey Bay, sing Old MacDonald under the big M at Hervey Bay McDonald's and dance Gangnam-style at Enzo's cafe at Scarness.

The Xavier Catholic College student, who loves touch football and hip hop, said it was pretty cool to celebrate turning 12 on the auspicious date.

Anne said there was also an added bonus to her daughter being born in 2000 - there will never be an excuse for forgetting how old Elyse is turning because it will be the same as the last two digits of the year.
