Reggie feels the heat

Reggie Biddings could have his car-b-que impounded for three months.

POLICE want to impound Reggie's famous car-b-que because he was caught driving it while disqualified.

Reggie Biddings makes a living cooking up mouth-watering burgers on his mobile burner but he also does a lot of work for good causes and charities.

He's raised funds for the PCYC and the Walk Away - One Punch Can Kill campaign.

He can be seen at lots of sport and entertainment venues.

But he fell out of the fat and into the fire and got burned by the police on Australia Day - while he was trying his best to be a good Australian.

It was 7.26am when a mobile patrol officer saw Reggie driving the car-b-que in Burgess St, North Mackay.

Initially Reggie gave a false name.

But when police grilled him (not literally) he revealed his true identity (as if he's hard to recognise).

His goose was cooked and he got booked.

He had lost his driver's licence at Southport in 2010 and had to confess.

Reggie, who is more upset than a MasterChef loser, told the officer his car-b-que was needed at a fundraising event at the Mackay Marina for Australia Day.

A friend had left the vehicle in Burgess St overnight and it was in the way of traffic.

He had tried to phone a number of people to move it for him.

Reggie told the court he only moved the vehicle a short distance: "It was just blocking traffic," he said.

"Because the car was left where it was, someone had to move it."

Magistrate Mark Morrow said: "You don't have a licence and you're not supposed to drive, no matter what the emergency.

"However, the circumstances are a little bit novel and you only drove it a short distance."

Reggie was fined $1000 and was disqualified from driving for two years.

Police want second helpings.

They want to impound Reggie's car-b-que for three months.

He's clearing the smoke from his eyes and is getting some legal advice on that issue and he'll be back in court later this month to see if he can keep his meals on wheels.
