Wivenhoe Dam
AN ENGINEER has told a flood inquiry that dam operators achieved ''the best possible'' result when Brisbane and Ipswich were submerged in January last year.
Terrence Malone told the reopened inquiry at the Brisbane Magistrates Court that he and the other three engineers who had given evidence did not keep detailed run sheets of strategies employed.
He said water height levels of the dam dictated the release strategies.
''I believe we achieved the best possible outcome for the people of Brisbane,'' Mr Malone told the inquiry.
The inquiry has been reopened to investigate allegations that the four engineers who controlled Wivenhoe Dam botched the water releases, caused unnecessary flooding and misled the inquiry over what strategies they employed.
