Business boosts Emily's career

AGE is no barrier for Emily Perry.

The 20-year-old go-getter will become one of Rockhampton's youngest entrepreneurs when she takes the helm of Boost juice bar in Stockland Rockhampton on Wednesday.

The former Emmaus College student said her mantra was to "do it all while you're young".

After fulfilling her dreams of travelling through Europe at only 19, Emily is ready for her juicy new adventure as managerial director at Rocky's only Boost juice bar.

And she certainly has the experience - working for the popular healthy fast food restaurant for more than three years.

"I really want to be my own boss," Emily said.

"And Boost being a brand that's already established, I feel really confident going into it.

"I'm not really nervous because I know the business so well.

"I can only really build it up from here."

Emily said she considered buying the franchise and taking on the role when it first came up when she was 17, but she felt too young at the time.

"Then I just decided to bite the bullet," she said.

Emily said she was inspired by her parents, who successfully floated their own business last year.

With their financial assistance and guidance, she already has big plans for the future of the juice bar.

"We will add fresh wraps and toasted sandwiches," Emily said.

"And get involved with sporting events ... deliveries and catering."

"But that will be in the future."

For now Emily is happy with the challenge of running her own business, and trying not to spend all her hard-earned dollars at nearby shops in her lunch break.
