BLOWN AWAY: Nev McKay and Tony Rack with their trophy fish, nabbed in tough conditions.
GATTON'S Bottom Dwellers Fishing Club braved the elements yet again on the weekend of January 21 and 22 when they competed in the flathead round of their calendar.
Anglers had to battle 25-30 knot winds, making conditions uncomfortable.
Anybody that fishes knows that when the barometer drops down around the 1015 hPa or below, and if you are still on the water, any catch is treasured.
With this in mind, there were still good specimens boated.
First place was awarded to Tony Rack with a 71cm fish, second went to Nev McKay with 68cm and third went to one of our consistent junior anglers, Aiden Schmidt with a 44cm fish.
The weather has been quite ordinary so reports have been few and far between.
But the pelagics are still providing the brave anglers with good sport when they can get out
However with all this fresh water about, the deeper holes and channels will hold the fish until it clears.
Bottom Dwellers will descend on Leslie Dam at Warwick on the weekend of February 18 and 19 with the target species of Yellow Belly (Golden Perch).
All financial members are invited to compete.
