KOALA KIDS: Kentville State School is now home to the Koala Kafe after they secured a Greening Australia grant.
KENTVILLE Primary School is set to become part of a koala corridor after the school received a $20,000 grant from Greening Australia.
Children at the school will become koala caretakers with the establishment of a 2700 square metre koala sanctuary on school grounds with the kids taking ownership of the whole project.
The Koala Kafe, as the area will be referred to, will be established from bare ground on the Kentville State School grounds and planted out with native species suitable for koalas.
The finished project will also contain walking and viewing paths with irrigation for the trees provided by extra rain water tanks obtained under the grant from Greening Australia.
With the project being on school grounds, it is hoped to provide a safe corridor for koalas.
