THE local branches of the world game (soccer) are cranking up into pre-season action, with Gatton FC holding its club sign-on this Saturday.
Gatton FC caters for male and female players from age five up, and features a broad volunteer support group and dedicated staff of volunteer coaches and managers.
The club is looking forward to another year of family friendly junior and senior sport, with the exciting prospect of Friday night games looming as its lighting project nears completion.
The Queensland Government provided $135,690 to Gatton Redbacks FC for the installation of game and training lights to get more Queenslanders active through sport and recreation.
"This project is the culmination of a tremendous effort from a large number of Gatton FC volunteers over quite a number of years," vice-president Brett Killen said.
"Their enthusiasm and persistence has led to this grant which will add a new dimension to Friday night sport in the Lockyer Valley."
Sign-ons take place between 9am and 1pm on Saturday, February 4 with Saturday, February 11 also on the cards.
Sign-on takes place at the club's Redback Park clubhouse at Treatment Plant Rd.
All welcome. Inquiries may be directed to Jeff Logan on 0438 601 421.
