IT was a week of sunny times and fun and games for 30 deserving disadvantaged kids last week.
Apex Clubs all over Queensland sourced and sent deprived kids to Camp Mudjimba at the Sunshine Coast as part of an annual Apex program called 'Kids to the Coast'.
Each Apex group chose to send kids who have a disability or are in some way disadvantaged to give them a week of good memories to remember and get them through difficult times.
The Brisbane Valley Apex Club saw how much the January floods affected parts of Queensland and it was a devastating time that hit close to home for Coominya residents William, 10, and Emma Weinert, 12.
William and Emma were chosen to attend the camp after the floods tore through their home.
Brisbane Valley Apex Club president Wayne Jaenke said there were plenty of disadvantaged kids eligible for the camp but William and Emma were affected in a different way.
"After the floods their whole family was in dire straits for a while," Mr Jaenke said.
"But these kids don't get recognised as having a disability and being directly disadvantaged so we chose to send them away for a well deserved break."
The kids enjoyed canoeing, high and mid rope courses, archery, beach Olympics, radio rogaine and night games.
