Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller.
AN IPSWICH Labor MP has spoken out in Parliament against privatisation, saying she has “not liked the answers” given to her by her own party after questioning the policy.
Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller’s comments came on Wednesday night after Opposition leader John-Paul Langbroek challenged her and other Labor MPs to speak out against the asset sales.
Mrs Miller said she had absolutely spoken out against the policy both in private with Labor and in public.
“Yes, I have asked the hard questions and on a number of occasions both inside and outside the Caucus,” she said.
“Yes, I have not liked the answers that I have been given. Yes, I have had my say, and you know what? I will continue to have my say.”
But Mr Langbroek yesterday said the people in Bundamba electorate know that “despite all the tough talk ... Jo-Ann Miller’s voice doesn’t carry far in Brisbane”.
“The people of Bundamba, like all Queenslanders, feel betrayed by Anna Bligh and Labor on privatisation and can’t rely on Jo-Ann Miller to stand up to Labor and stop privatisation,” he said.
Mrs Miller said she would continue to stand up for her electorate.
