Valleys dominate Hawks

THE Gatton Hawks have one week to turn their season around after they were demolished by Valleys on Sunday afternoon.

A month ago the Hawks defeated the Roosters and went into the match with confidence but the match was anything but a replay of that afternoon as the Roosters dominated from the opening whistle.

The Roosters showed their finals experience as they piled on the try after try, proving they are still the team to beat for the title this year.

Nothing the Hawks did had any effect on the Roosters, with the Hawks only managing to cross for one try, late in the match, through Jamie Dodt. The final score was 68-4.

The Hawks now face an elimination match against Warwick on Saturday.

Reserve Grade

The Hawks Reserve Grade side will live to fight another day after a comprehensive 40-28 victory over Goondiwindi on Saturday night.

It was high pressure football against a determined Goondiwindi side, with nerves getting the better of the Hawks in the opening exchanges.

Jai Taylor's intercept and length of the field try was one of the many highlights of the game.

Try scorers for the Hawks were Ryan Johnson, Aaron Robbie, Brendan Revell, Cliff Brown, Kane Taylor and Jai Taylor (2). Conversions by Jai Taylor (6).

The Hawks will need to be even better this week when they take on Valleys in Saturday's major semi-final knock-out match starting at 5.30pm.

C Grade

C Grade has its first game of the final series this weekend and they are hoping that the two weeks break will prove beneficial when they go up against Warwick this Sunday at 10am.

The side finished the season as minor premiers, which earned them a week off and will be looking to beat Warwick to progress straight through to the Grand Final.
