New studio to bring limelight

BUDDING rock stars in the region can look forward to the chance to record their number one hits after a state-of-the-art recording studio was recently built at Mt Sylvia.

The brand new venture for the Lockyer Valley is the brainchild of local student Samuel Brown, 17, who is studying sound engineering in Brisbane.

He decided to make a start in the music industry from a young age by collaborating with his parents and attached a separate studio to his house.

His mother, Ann-Jane Brown believes there is a wealth of talent out there and is appealing to all up and coming bands to get involved.

“We would love a mixed bag of musicians as well as solo artists and want a bit of diversity.

“It would be really great to see more music in the region.

“Schools need to support more rock bands and place an emphasis on it instead of shutting programs down.”

Mrs Brown said Leumas Studios is in a tranquil location and is a great idea for musicians in urban areas to get out of the hustle and bustle and focus on their song writing.

Organiser of Gatton's Relay for Life, Ann-Jane Brown, is excited about the variety of musical talent in the Lockyer and Brisbane Valleys who can get involved in the event on October 2-3.

Guest local band, Broken Vision, are set to play a few numbers to link sister Relay for Life event in Palm Desert, California.

Mrs Brown said it is important for musical talent in the region to get involved to support a great cause.

“Music is such an outlet for teenagers, and if we have that there are more opportunities to have local bands go further,” she said.

She said she would like to see more teams involved as Gatton usually has a smaller event than Toowoomba or Ipswich.

“Hopefully it will generate more support from the public,” Mrs Brown said.

“Bands that enter will perform in front of an audience and a couple of judges and the winning band will get a professional demo.”

For those that don't win, clients will still be able to record at a price that fits within students' price range.

“There will be a $10 entry fee and all money will be donated to Cancer Council Queensland,” Mrs Brown said.

She said Relay for Life happens all over the world and a couple of the coordinators here have been in touch with organisers in Palm Desert.

“They are running the event on at the same time and it is a huge thing there with lots of entertainment,” Mrs Brown said.
