Elderly man bashed in Lowood

AN ELDERLY man was bashed in a callous attack on Sunday, and was left lying against a fence for three hours around 4pm.

A concerned resident, who wished to remain anonymous, found the man in a state of shock.

“I came around the corner and there was an elderly man lying against a fence who said he had been bashed by thugs.”

“He'd been lying there for three hours and nobody stopped.

“Where is the community spirit and why don't we help our elderly people?”

The concerned local resident was also unhappy because people across the road were standing around and not doing offering assistance.

“There were people standing around in the car park across the road not doing anything.

“I was very angry that people did not approach this man earlier.”

Apparently the man had been in the area because he was visiting his son.

The man had not seen who attacked him and believed he had been hit by a lump of wood or a pipe.

“I couldn't leave him there so I sat with him. He said he had been trying for three hours to ring somebody and I am angry at the Lowood community,” the concerned local said.

“I didn't ask him his age but he would have been over 60. Where are the policemen in this town?

“I am absolutely shocked and gutted that our community can drive past and not do anything.”
