Aussie actress Toni Collette faces competition from ex-Sopranos mobster wife Edie Falco for an Emmy.
AUSTRALIA'S tough run at the Emmys has continued with Rose Byrne the latest to come up empty-handed at TV's night of nights.
Byrne was nominated in the supporting actress drama category for Damages at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, but the prize went to The Good Wife's Archie Panjabi.
Byrne has become a regular on the Hollywood awards circuit, picking up Emmy and Golden Globe nominations the past two years for her Damages role, however has never won.
Earlier in the ceremony Toni Collette, for United States of Tara, missed out in the lead actress in a comedy category, with Edie Falco winning for her role in Nurse Jackie.
Former Australia's Funniest Home Videos host, turned US reality TV producer Kim Kilbey, was also thwarted when her show Dancing with the Stars was beaten by Top Chef.
In other categories, Jim Parsons won lead comedy actor Emmy for his role as a nerd on The Big Bang Theory, while Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet and Glee's Jane Lynch won for their comedy-series supporting roles.
The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are underway at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.
