THE Gatton Premier Redbacks ended the season with an entertaining draw against second placed Willowburn.
Willows scored within the first couple minutes of the game and were dominating for the majority of play.
Gatton equalised when Justin Newby scored a cracker of a goal off a through ball from Dave Halstead.
With a very ordinary display of soccer from the Redbacks, Willows quickly advanced to a 4-1 lead.
Justin Newby scored his second goal just before half time and Gatton came out of the break, firing a few shots on goal in the second half, but it seemed they could not capitalise further on their chances.
Five minutes from full time, Jackson Bell put the Redbacks back into the game and Adam Halstead scoring in the final minutes allowed them to claim the draw.
The Players' Player was awarded to a deserving Justin Newby who played an outstanding match.
Big thanks to the supporters and Gatton Hawks who showed up to Dixon Oval for the last game of the season.
The Mens' Third Division finished their season in the best possible way with an exciting 3-2 win over the Hawks on a bumpy USQ pitch.
The Redbacks bolted from the gates slotting two goals in the first five minutes.
Ian Lamb proved his radar was bang on target when he chipped the keeper with a long ball and the other came when Dave Halstead headed a beautiful cross from the corner past the keeper.
Gatton's hearts' collectively sank straight after the break when the Hawks bounced back with a quick-fire pair of their own.
But when Jesse was fouled 25 metres from goal, the resulting free kick found the silver ‘scone' of Player/Coach Ian Lamb who made sure his team would finish winners.
Lamby was a deserving recipient of Players' Player honours, and received the thanks of a grateful team for a job well done as Coach.
Lockyer Trophies Ladies 2nd Division played at Gatton on Sunday against Pittsworth.
It was a very entertaining game for Gatton enthusiasts and the girls all passed well resulting in a 2-0 win, one each from Lesley Lund and Taleigha Ross.
Player of the Match went to Lesley with Stacey Van Der Werf a close second and Taleigha Ross creating great opportunities.
