Georgie Parker visits Summer Bay

GOLD Logie winning actress Georgie Parker has joined the cast of Home and Away playing Alf's Stewart's long lost daughter.

Seven says Parker has already filmed her first scenes as Stewart's daughter Roo (Ruth) who returns to Summer Bay after many years abroad.

The scenes will go to air later this year.

Parker was made famous by roles on Seven shows A Country Practice and All Saints, but has not been seen on screens regularly since 2005.

"I'm thrilled to be back at Channel Seven and to be part of Home and Away," Parker said in a statement on Monday.

"Working with Ray is a joy. We are having a fantastic time together. The whole cast and crew have been wonderful."

The part of Roo was originally played by Justine Clark who has worked with Parker on ABC's Play School.

Home and Away producer Cameron Welsh said he anticipated a warm welcome for Parker from the show's fans.

"We had such a positive reaction to Emily Symons return as Marilyn, we trust the fans will love having an original character such as Roo back in the Bay," he said in a statement.

"Securing Georgie Parker to bring her back to our screens is a real coup for the show."
