STUDENTS from Laidley State High School were given the opportunity to represent youth from the local area and have their voices heard at the highest levels of government recently in Ipswich.
School captain Holly Boettcher and vice captain Kaylah Vejle were invited to contribute to the Regional Development Forum for Ipswich.
Regional Development Australia is a body implemented to represent regional interests to all levels of government, and with the Western Corridor enjoying unprecedented growth, those interests are many and varied.
Laidley State High's students were an integral part of the Forum, which also included representatives from Federal, State and Local governments, as well as community and business groups.
In a very successful demonstration of democracy, the Laidley High contingent was able to contribute to discussions regarding issues of importance to youth, including access to services, transport and technology.
Several suggestions were forwarded for further study and inclusions in the RDA Regional Roadmap, to be published later this year.
