MARIA Stegeman, the owner/manager of Curves, Gatton's women's fitness centre, has conducted a food drive for the local Salvation Army Corps' welfare program.
“Each week during the past month, we displayed a list of required items such as baby needs, tinned goods and personal articles,” Ms Stegeman said.
“Curves' clients were asked to become involved by donating goods, and each week a donor's name went into the draw for a free massage.”
Ms Stegeman described the response as “amazing”, adding that 20 boxes totalling 327kg were presented to the Army's Lieutenant-Colonel Wally Greentree for distribution to people in need.
Lieutenant-Colonel Greentree said the demand for assistance within the community was now greater than ever.
“We are most grateful for this generous donation, and we want to thank Maria, her staff and her clients for their generous support,” he said.
