Put your best foot forward

ON August 15 the Lowood Slimmers will hold their annual Breast Cancer walkathon.

At the CWA Hall, Main Street in Lowood, the walkathon has been held for the past eight years in order to raise money for Breast Cancer research.

Last year the organisation added $24,000 to the impressive figure of more than $86,000 in the past eight years.

For people who cannot walk on the day there is also an auction and a multi draw raffle.

All walkers receive a bag of goodies for participation which is donated by local businesses.

Morning tea, sausage sizzle, hot and cold drinks, and a barbecue lunch are available on the day.

In order to register, show up between 8am and 9am.

It costs $4 to register and there are three distances to walk, which include the 12km at 9.10am, 7km at 9.20am and 3km walk at 9.30am.

Lunch is between 11am and 12pm and the auction and raffle are held after 12pm.

There are prizes up for grab for the highest money raised in each distance and prizes for the best pink outfit for adults, and children up to 12-years-old.

Lorraine Schulz, one of the fund-raising organisers spoke about the day.

“It always turns out to be a great and successful day every year, and anything that people can donate will be greatly appreciated,” she said.
