STILL under the age of 20, the future looks bright for Gatton golfer Zoe Field.
Zoe has been breaking records at every course she plays and it appears it is only a matter of time until the rest of the world hears about her golfing achievements.
With the encouragement of her family Zoe took an interest in several sports as a child but has found her true calling on the golf course.
Zoe has travelled far and wide to play golf but all of the effort is beginning to pay dividends.
Last year Zoe decided to have a quiet year in order to focus on school.
In what was meant to be a quiet year has turned out to be another step in the right direction to becoming a professional golfer.
At the age of 16 Zoe won her third successive City Golf Club Ladies Club Championship, 31 shots ahead of her nearest rival.
As well as claiming the title in Gatton, Zoe also won the Gatton Ladies Club Championship for the first time, claimed the title with an 11-stroke victory.
“I didn't play as well as I would have liked in the final round, but I'm very happy about the win,” Field said.
“The ladies at the club are so encouraging and I really enjoy playing here.
“I've also had lots of support and financial help from the City and Gatton clubs which I'm very thankful for.
“It's been a pretty exciting year for me so far and I have my coach Heath Garvey to credit for a lot of the good things that are happening for me.”
Field's City win followed an impressive showing at the under 19 School State Championships at Royal Pines.
The Lockyer High student finished runner-up in the rain-affected event after recording 18-hole rounds of 76, 71 and 77 on the par-72 layout.
“To finish runner-up at the under 19 state titles was an amazing feeling, there were so many good players there,” Field said.
In her short but illustrious career Zoe lays claim to holding the course record at the City Golf Club in Toowoomba, Gatton and Dalby.
In 2009 Zoe finished the year well, finishing as the runner-up in the Sunshine Coast Junior Masters and the Katherine Hull Classic at Horton Park.
She narrowly missed out on winning both tournaments, an experience she said she will draw on in later competition.
“I actually didn't expect to get this far so both were very positive experiences,” Field said.
“I lost 0.5 off my handicap and I have been playing well.”
Earlier in the year Zoe won the Queensland Women's Foursome Championship.
Paired with Hills International player Emily McLennan, the team captured the title by three shots with scores of 77, 37 (114) in the 27-hole event.
Every year Zoe continues to add silverware to her cabinet, as she continues taking steps towards achieving her dream of becoming a professional golfer.
