ALTHOUGH Keith Edwards is currently in his fourth year serving as the President of the Gatton Show Society, his involvement with the organisation of the show extends much further.
In fact Keith has been lending his services to the Gatton Show for 21 years now and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Over this two decade reign of support to the show, Keith has held many positions in the Show society and has left his own mark on what the Gatton Show is today.
As president Keith is responsible for the co-ordination of the show and is charged with ensuring complete patron satisfaction for all those in attendance whilst maintaining a safe environment for the community to enjoy.
Keith acknowledges the value that agricultural shows add to rural communities like Gatton and says he chooses to dedicate his time and effort to the show as he, “believes in being part of a very important community event.”
“Agricultural shows are important for our children to be kept in touch with what their local community has to showcase and to provide a place for people to enjoy a carnival atmosphere,” Mr Edwards said.
The role of Show President is voted on every year and has seen Keith receive overwhelming support from other members of the Show Society.
“If re-elected I want to relocate the Gatton Show to the new grounds and expand it.”
“I believe in community involvement and have a great deal of passion,” Keith said.
This certainly is a good reflection of the way Keith has helmed the massive team of volunteers who piece this wonderful community event together, year after year.
