Weather dampens cricket finals

WHILE the wet weather has been welcomed by farmers, it has caused pain for cricketers.

In the Ipswich competition, the Laidley Blue Dogs were able to avoid any dramas with the weather after finishing the season as minor premiers.

As minor premiers, the Blue Dogs enjoy the advantage of a week off, while Northsiders and Marburg play at Marburg this week for the other spot in the final.

The final will be a four day match played over the following two weekends.

The weather was not as kind for Laidley’s second grade side who finished the season with a wash out.

Unable to pick up any points in the final match, the Blue Dogs finished in third place and will play Brothers at Ivor Marsden Park this Saturday/Sunday in the major semi-final.

The winner will take on Fassifern in the Grand Final the following two weekends.

The Laidley under 14 also had a great season, finishing first in their competition.

They will play Northsiders in the Grand Final this Sunday and the following Sunday also at Ivor Marsden ovals.

In the Lockyer competition rain washed out the semi-final between Mulgowie and Glenore Grove.

Played over Saturday and Sunday, only 8.5 overs were bowled which was not enough to constitute a match, meaning Mulgowie has progressed through to the final against Gatton/Fordsdale this Saturday and Sunday.

The final will be played on Cahill Park 2.

In Reserve Grade both finals were washed out, ending the season for Forest Hill and Lake Clarendon.

Having secured the top two spots with important wins in the final round, Helidon and Glenore Grove will progress through to the reserve grade final this Saturday.

The match will be played at Glenore Grove.

In B Grade the final between Mulgowie and Glenore Grove Blue was also washed out.

As a result Mulgowie are the B Grade champions for this season.

If rain affects the A Grade and Reserve Grade finals this week, Gatton/Fordsdale will again be A Grade champions and Glenore Grove the Reserve Grade champions.
