Juniors excel at Meet

TEN junior members of the Gatton Swimming Club travelled to Pittsworth on the weekend to compete in the annual Pittsworth Junior Swim Meet.

For two of the youngest members of the club, Ashlea Nolan and Luke Naumann it was their first ever swimming carnival.

Putting all their practice at training into their events, they achieved a personal best time in every race they swam.

Overall for the day the swimmers came home with four firsts, two seconds, five thirds and 19 PBs.

Well done to all the swimmers and also to Gabrielle Bendell who achieved a 16 second PB in her 200m Individual Medley.

Meanwhile on the same weekend, the Age National swimmers headed to Chandler to try to swim further qualifying times for extra events, and to improve their seeded qualifying times.

Jessica Reinhardt had a great weekend, swimming a blistering 1.00.09 for her 100m Freestyle, to go under her PB by 1.7sec and adding the 100 Free to her National timetable.

She went on to place 1st in the 50m Free, swimming another PB of 28.19s and qualifying for a third swim at Nationals in Sydney in April.

Jess was also third in her pet event, the 100m Butterfly.

Meanwhile Michael Redinger once again lowered his 100m Free PB to a 58.08sec in an excellent swim, and Ashleigh Olive swam sound times to place first in the 16yo 200m Breastroke and 2nd in the 100m Breastroke.
