THE state body for Queensland speedway NASR QUEENSLAND Inc. have become the full naming right sponsors for the Queensland Microsprints State Titles being held at Gatton Showgrounds this Saturday, March 13.
Drivers from Victoria and NSW will be making the long trip in the attempt of taking the title back to their state, the Queensland drivers will not be taking this threat lightly and will be fighting hard to keep it within the state.
Victoria has sent its best in, Graeme Porter from Portland will be driving one of the new four stroke powered cars, while the pocket rocket (this girl could teach the Stig to drive) Kristie McLean (car #57) will be driving a brand new stroked 270cc powered American car owned by Steve Thompson racing, who is based here in Queensland.
This will be its first serious outing in Gatton.
Two very competitive drivers who have been on a winning streak lately are the Norton twin brothers Tony and Tom.
These two have been on fire, providing spectacular and close race as they do battle with each other and have been blitzing the rest of the field.
Making a return to racing after a six year break will be David Napper who has purchased a full American race team from Sydney and has his Brother Tun as part of the driver line up.
A lot of late nights are the order of the day as he blew his motor while racing in Grafton last weekend and it requires a full rebuild, he is also rebuilding a third car for the meeting with a driver still to be decided on.
17-year-old Jesse Lindenberg who has been having a horror time with engine problems has finally found that speed he is well known for and is a real threat to the title.
Les Nelson (car #55) who has held many titles over the years is the real threat to all of the other drivers.
Les, who hails from Sydney, will take his regular drive in the A&J mowers car which is based in Toowoomba and be part of the team with Mark Van Giersbergen (car # 9).
Mark, another driver who has had bad run with engine problems, found the speed at Grafton that he needs to win the Title.
All children attending the race meeting will receive a lucky number at the Gate and go into the draw for a pushbike valued at $235.
