Brookwater region hosts new precinct

IPSWICH City Council has given its approval to a new precinct at Brookwater which could become home to a hotel, a child care centre, a medical centre, retail, commercial and residential developments.

Planning and Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Paul Tully said council had approved an application from Springfield Land Corporation for the Brookwater Urban Village Precinct Plan.

“The Brookwater Urban Village incorporates a number of parcels of land bounded by Augusta Parkway to the west, the Brookwater Golf Course to the north and east and Mirvac’s Fairways development on Melaleuca Drive,” he said.

“This approval means council is now in a position to consider further area development plan applications for the various stages of the proposed development.”

Cr Tully said there was a number of different developments planned for the precinct.

“Up to 15,000m{+2} for retail uses, 20,000m{+2} for Commercial Uses and a hotel with 150 rooms and 13 house villas are included in the precinct.

“This area will also cater for 466 apartments, 32 attached dwellings and 16 detached dwellings.

“The Brookwater precinct will also provide for indoor entertainment and community facilities.”

The development is proposed to be undertaken between 2010 and 2025.
