State coach visits Gatton

QUEENSLAND’S state table tennis coach, Danny Lloyd, visited Gatton to run two coaching sessions in the past two weeks.

The coaching sessions were intended to improve players’ skills and to provide tips for the club’s volunteers to run more structured coaching at the club’s Friday practice night.

Players who attended the sessions gained invaluable tips on their games, including basic stroke making, serve and return, counter-hitting and body and feet position.

Gatton Table Tennis Association were grateful to Danny Lloyd for his time in running these sessions.

Table tennis fixtures began last week with teams closely matched in both divisions. Final results were:

Division one: Unbeatables (Tavis Chappell, Andrew Van Zelst, Krystal Siedofsky) d Transformers (Gary Reynolds, Robert Hallas, Doug Horrocks) 6-5.

Nets and Edges (Alex Hood, Michael Kluck, Blake James) d Raptors (Greg Furness, Merv Robinson, Nick Yilmaz) 6-5.

Rob’s Rascals (Robert Bartley, Norbert Pruess, Rhonda McLucas) d Reppin’ It (Ken Fitzgerald, John Farmer, Emily Hallas) 6-5.

Good Guys (Bill Hooper, Glen Sharp, Allan McLucas) bye.

Division two: Bullets (Margaret Hood, Ross Hooper, Freedom Hill) d Cougars (James Murphy, Patrick O’Mullane, Brody Clutterbuck) 6-5.

Spirit Rollers (Fazel Bakhtiari, Tommy Kluck, Evelyn Murphy) d Bee Stings (Tanya Hooper, Julian French, Damien Brandley) 8-3.

Triple Ts (Ted Xu, Tracey Siedofsky, Terry Karger) d Triple Threat (Greg Van Zelst, Brendon Murphy, Michele Foley) 9-2, Terrific Trio (Iain Russell, Ryan Muckert, Lucy Kluck) bye.
