WHAT a difference a week makes, after the heavy rains some of the grounds have started to fire well.
The creeks have been flushed taking the Muddies out of hiding and anybody visiting the Gold Coast this week would have been shocked by the brown water right across the Broadwater.
New members to the Bottom Dwellers Fishing Club, Rob Pomeranke and Wade Bachman ventured outside North Stradbroke Island and were rewarded with some quality fish.
Rob brought home a quality Red Emperor weighing 3.34kg which is a good fish for these waters.
Wade and Rob also brought home some quality Squire and Pearl Perch.
The Qld Boating and Fisheries Patrol were out in force at various ramps on Sunday, checking the quality of fish brought home and safety gear so don’t forget the size limits.
Failure to adhere to these regulations carry a hefty fine.
At Caloundra, Bream and Whiting and some Luderick are still been taken from around the Boardwalk and Mud Crabs from the Pumistone Passage.
Brisbane River has been firing this week for Snapper and Threadfin Salmon around the sunken structures near the boat passage.
This report came from the Boating and Fisheries Patrol officer that inspected my esky on Sunday so I have no reason to doubt the fish’s quality.
Moreton Bay has been hard to fish with some ordinary weather on alternate days. Spotty Mackerel are still reported to be on the chew in the Rous Channel and Rainbow Channels.
The southern bay Islands are still fishing well for the patient anglers who put in the time to fish drop offs.
Jumpinpin area. Whiting and Bream are showing up in the usual spots such as Golden Bank and Tiger Mullett and the local Bait shops tells me that the Pig Sties are also fishing well for Flathead.
