Gatton/Fordsdale awarded grant

THE Gatton/Fordsdale Cricket Club was last week awarded a grant as part of Commonwealth Bank’s inaugural Grants for Grassroots Cricket program.

THE Gatton/Fordsdale Cricket Club was last week awarded a grant as part of Commonwealth Bank’s inaugural Grants for Grassroots Cricket program.

Nationally, more than 1400 local cricket clubs applied for one of over 200 grants that will provide $1000 cash and $750 worth of equipment including a shade marquee, two market umbrellas, 200 water bottles and 50 field markers.

The club will use the funds to kit out the canteen as it is the major fundraising source for our club.

Funds will also be used to update the equipment in junior team kit bags as some of the items are over 15-years-old.

“We are proud that we can support the Association in this way through our Grants for Grassroots Cricket program,” Jason Weier, Commonwealth Bank Branch Manager in Gatton said.

“Cricket is popular in the area and the grant will provide great assistance to ensure local cricketers have the opportunity to continue to play the sport they love.”

Troy Muller, President of the Gatton Fordsdale Cricket Club, said the grant would provide great assistance.

“We are thrilled to receive a Commonwealth Bank cricket grant and it will provide great support to our members in the Gatton area,” Troy said.

The grants program attracted a wide range of applications from suburban and rural, junior and senior clubs, women’s and men’s clubs, and clubs from drought and fire affected areas.
