Two local brigades including the Laidley Auxiliary and Hattonvale/Summerholm Rural Brigade's competed in 10 events held over the Saturday and Sunday showcasing their skills against 12 other brigades from the region.

The two teams have been training together up to four times a week after work and over the weekends leading up to the event to hone their skills.

The Laidley Auxiliary Brigade was successful at the competition, making it through to the State Fire-fighter Competition.

The team placed third overall after scraping into the top three in eight of the 10 events.

In their first year, the Hattonvale-Summerholm narrowly missed out on the State Competition by four points after receiving a second and third in two of the events.
