CHINA'S Zhang Jike has completed the Grand Slam of table tennis after securing gold at the London Olympics.

Zhang became only the fourth man to complete the Slam - World Cup, World Championship and Olympic Gold - by demolishing compatriot Wang Hao in five sets.

Zhang was out to a three sets to nil lead before Wang hit back in the fourth, but a comeback was quickly snuffed out as Zhang wrapped up the match 18-6, 11-5, 11-6, 10-12, 13-11.

The defeat added more misery to the Wang trophy cabinet with the 28-year-old seemingly to be the eternal bridesmaid.

Expected to retire from the Olympics after London, Wang may never shake his runner-up status with his London silver medal set to hang next to the two he won in Beijing and Athens.
