WARWICK may be losing a speech pathologist in Emily Hetherington, but we're gaining another in Alison Dowdle.

Toowoomba girl Miss Dowdle has taken up the new speechie role at BUSHKids, as Miss Hetherington heads off to Mount Isa.

The UQ graduate said she was excited to jump straight into the job.

"I'm looking forward to the small-town community feel and getting to know the locals and I hear there are a few young professional groups around here too," Miss Dowdle said.

"I'm a little nervous because it is my first job out of uni, but I'm really excited to connect with the other speechies."

Miss Dowdle said she couldn't wait to meet her clients.

"I'm looking forward to meeting you and having some fun," she said.

Miss Dowdle also studied literature at university, which she said helped her with speech pathology, being all about language.
