THE Lockyer Valley community is rallying behind two families who lost their toddlers in the same amount of days.
Two-year-old Caiden was reported missing from his Hatton Vale home in Blokland St around 6pm on Thursday night.
His body was found in a dam on the rural block around 8.40pm and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 15-month-old boy has also died after he was pulled from a pool in Hewett Dr, Regency Downs, just 12km from where the other tragedy occurred.
Laidley Child Protection Investigation Unit officer-in-charge Bronagh Gillespie said the boy had fallen into a partially filled swimming pool shortly before 5.30pm Friday.
"He was located by his mother a short time later," Detective Sergeant Gillespie said.
"We don't believe he was in the water for very long."
CPR was performed on the boy, Tyson, before paramedics arrived and took him to Ipswich Hospital.
He was resuscitated and stabilised before being taken to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
However, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night.
Det. Sgt Gillespie said the in-ground pool was being drained when the boy fell in.
She said it was properly fenced with a gate.
How the boy got to the water was still being investigated.
Det. Sgt Gillespie said the boy's parents were devastated.
"Parents are reminded to be vigilant with their children and watch them at all times."
Drowning prevention and awareness group Hannah's Foundation has assisted both families in setting up accounts to help with funeral and other costs.
This raises the number of dam drownings in Queensland to nine for children under eight-years-old and the number of drownings in pools at four.
