THE residents of Boambee Gardens have reached out to the less fortunate on the other side of the world by supporting the Hope for Haiti Charity.

They've spent countless hours knitting blankets for children orphaned by the Haiti earthquake.

Michael Crossland, who is a local representative for the charity, said the gesture would be greatly appreciated by the children.

"These blankets will have such a wonderful impact on these children's lives, proving to them that there are people on the other side of the world that care about them," Michael said.

"A gift of love from the heart is always a gift that is so special."

Michael will take the blankets to Haiti when he visits in July to work on the building of a new orphanage.
