Springborg visits hospital

HOSPITAL VISIT: Minister for Health Lawrence Springborg with Kingaroy Renal Unit manager Andrea Rolfe and patient Sharlene Jacobs on Tuesday.

WHILE other State Government ministers were celebrating Melbourne Cup Day at the Kumbia Races, Minister for Health Lawrence Springborg spent more than two hours at the Kingaroy Hospital.

He met patients, trainee doctors, nurses, board members and district health professionals and spoke with staff about their conditions and concerns.

The tour of the hospital included the wards, renal unit, Farr Home and the BreastScreen Bus, which arrived in Kingaroy this week and will stay until February.

He ate lunch with a plate in his hand surrounded by a group of nurses listening to their issues and concerns with the aging facilities.

And Mr Springborg got a first-hand report of how the hospital overcomes challenges to make health services efficient.

He said the discovery of hospital reports ignored by the Labor Government was a primary concern for his department.

"Kingaroy Hospital was neglected from basic maintenance, along with 11 other hospitals," he said.

Mr Springborg said the funding was proof of the commitment from the LNP Government.
