Quilt signifies high spirits

A QUILT put together by the residents of Somerset will stand as a permanent reminder to residents in the region of the events of 2011.

The Back Together Community Quilt, unveiled on the weekend at the Fernvale Futures complex, is all about the connection of various community groups getting together to keep the healing process moving ahead in a creative way to get over the trauma of the floods.

Australian Red Cross Community Recovery co-ordinator Gerry Stacey said the quilt was started at the Fernvale Back Together event, which was a creative activity facilitated by Red Cross workers in January 2012.

The unveiling of the quilt coincided with the launch of the Fernvale Mural Project, which will be located in Fernvale Memorial Park.
