One dead in Moranbah explosion

UPDATE: A man is dead after an explosion at a recycling waste management business in Moranbah this morning.

Three police crews, paramedics and firefighters rushed to the scene on Goonyella Rd just before 7am.

A 22-year-old died as a result of the explosion.

He was believed to be from the Caboolture area, a police spokesman said.

The fire crew conducted a search of the area, but did not have to put out any fires, a Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said.

The cause of the explosion was still unknown at this stage and was being investigated by Moranbah police and Work Place Health and Safety, the police spokesman said.
