Laidley's Sir Eats-a-Lot takes Australian burger record

FORMER Laidleyite Isaac Martin has set a new Australian eating record and is now hungry for more honours.

In Melbourne on Saturday Isaac was taking part in a competition to eat the most amount of burgers in a 30 minute period.

Isaac was attempting to eat 20 150g beef patties with cheese and sauce in competition with several others, but they all missed out.

"No one did it in the venues 30 minute time limit," Isaac said.

"I had eaten the most with only two and a half patties left so I was determined to be the winner of the venue's competition."

Isaac not only won the competition but also beat the old Australian record of 15 180g patties in an hour.

"I finished the whole burger in 51mins setting a new Australian record," he said.

Isaac demolished 20 storeys of patties containing 3kg beef, 500g cheese and three layers of bun.

For his work, Isaac took away a $150 voucher for the Melbourne restaurant, a 2.26kg block of American Burger cheese, Changz Hot Sauce and a specially designed tower of power burger t-shirt.

"I was always in it for the record but the prizes on the day were an awesome bonus," Isaac said.

"Heaps of social media entrepeneurs were there - big burger bloggers from all over Melbourne including a film crew.

"They're hoping to hold another event later in the year."

Now living in Melbourne, Isaac has a long affinity with Laidley, spending his first 20 years there.

"I was captain of the primary school and captain at my secondary college as well," he said.

"I Played for the laidley soccer club for 14 years and spent my afternoons working at Supa IGA Laidley for six years."
