Google's war on everything

GOOGLE continued its war against everyone and everything with a cluster of announcements, this time focusing on apps and cloud computing.

Among the highlights was the news that Google's Chrome browser, is coming to Apple iPhones and iPads. The apps should hit Apple App Store later today.

Brian Rakowski, vice president of Google's Chrome division Chrome, announced that Chrome was now the world's most popular browser, and had nearly doubled its active user base to 310 million over the past year.

The move is both an acknowledgement to Apple's commanding position in the mobile world and an acknowledgement that mobile is the future.

Google's senior vice president of Chrome and apps, Sandar Pichai, predicted that by 2016 there would be as many as 2.5 network connections per person on Earth.
