Glitz and glamour hits town

LAIDLEY'S night of nights brought more than 200 people together for dancing and celebration at the Laidley Show Ball at the Laidley Cultural Centre on Saturday night.

Organiser John Keehn said the event was a great success.

"It was a great turnout and shows that we have been building it up over time," Mr Keehn said.

"It was sold out and we were still turning people away the night before."

Laidley Showgirl Kellie Bayliss said she was honoured to be chosen to represent the Laidley Show Society.

"I have always been a fan of the shows and of course the showgirls," she said.

"Showgirls seem to make the day and I always wanted to have a chance to do that.

"They are there meeting the people and presenting sashes to the winners, which always looked very exciting. I think it will be a great way to meet people and a different way to experience the show.

"I can't wait to represent Laidley, step out of my comfort zone a bit and really embrace the experience."
