CRONULLA captain Paul Gallen has declared himself 100% ready for the most important game of his NRL career against North Queensland tomorrow night.

Speaking after signing a one-year extension with the Sharks for a 17th season since starting as an 18-year-old in 2002, 277-gamer Gallen said he was happy to be going around again next year, hopefully as part of a premiership defence.

"I love this club and I love this area,” said Gallen, who's now a chance to join former Sharks great Andrew Ettingshausen (328) as the club's only other 300-game player.

Gallen is hoping to lead Cronulla to the club's maiden premiership next month.

"I'll do the captain's run today, then I'm all set to go,” said the veteran skipper who since his debut in 2002 has also played 24 games for NSW and 32 internationals for Australia.

Gallen said Cronulla was expecting North Queensland to try to "blow us off the park” as they did 39-0 when they met in last year's finals.

"The Cowboys will come out determined ... but if we can weather that, we can win,” he said.
